Black Bride, East Indian Wedding

I don't normally post vids like these on the blog; that's what Facebook is for but unfortunately, Facebook is being a total douche today.

Anyway, these are some beautiful wedding pictures with some beautiful music and, not to mention, a combination we don't see nearly enough.  To be honest, I was doubly surprised that a very light-skinned Indian man was marrying not only a Black woman, but one who was much darker than he.

If you have to ask why it's a shocker, then you've probably been living under a rock.

Anyhoo, without further ado:

  1. This is one of the many reasons I LOVE The Blasian Narrative.

Videos like this, living proof that such couples exist. Inspiration and motivations for my scripts.

That woman is SO beautiful. I want her sari. :D

    1. In my culture (Trinidad and Tobago) Indians -Hindus and Muslims alike- marry black women all the time. The black women often times follow some Christian faith. Many times the couples have two ceremonies one for each relgion and dressed in wear suited to the culture associated with the religion. We don't cal them blasian or anything like that but we call them mixed marriages. It really is quite common and beautiful.

  2. What a beautiful Blasian/Blindian couple. I was in complete awe over this video. They are a very attractive couple.I don't know what man wouldn't want her and as a Black female, dude is fine! They both have great taste in each other. "Bliss"says that she's pregnant. She( That is what I will call her) said that when she gave her in laws sonogram pictures, the MIL threw them away. Grief! there is no sense in nobody harboring that much hate, especially for an innocent child! I'm with her, I don't think that I would want my child exposed around that kind of racist poison.

Today, I was doing some shopping at a local Wal-Mart and I've seen a Blindian couple...but a BM/A(I)W pairing. That would be my third time seeing that, but far as A(I)M/BW only 2,though zI'm quite sure there probably more. The guy was like the Bliss's husband..lighter( olive) complexioned and his women were far darker than Bliss. Come to think about it..I've never seen him with nothing but darker skinned Black women.Just something about him that makes me think that I couldn't picture him with a woman of his culture or another non-Black race. It's not wishful thinking..it's the vibe I get from him.

In spite of the majority of them marrying their own people, I believe that there are some, like Bliss's husband and like the guy I discussed in here, who are interested in Black women. There is a website BlindianNetwork.com and I was shocked and delighted to see that websites like that exists. Yes, they cater to Asian people, but in this case Indian men and women. Then there was another woman from Texas( I think her name was Victoria Singh) has a YT site about her family. From them I'm always reminded that Blindian couples are out there, even if we don't always see them first.

Still it's a beautiful thing to see this and it encouraging to know that South Indian men also marry Black women.

  5. Screenwriter,

I've always admired Indian clothing. Bliss looks like she's royalty in that Sari. The mens clothing also looks great. Just about every guy mimicked what the wore.

    Marona,

I 've often wondered about that? Some people say that in comparison to Hindu's ,Sikhs seem a little more open to marrying people out of their inner circle.

Why would his being Sikh make a difference? When I think about it, the only Indian man to have seriously hit on me was devoutly Sikh.

  8. @ M and eccentricyoruba:

That's what I'm getting at. I'm trying to find the best way of describing my observation, but I think that on average Sikhs may be a little more open than Hindus. It's just different beliefs and philosophies that I've observed. I also have had a Sikh man try to court me and he kind of described his belief and it was very open from his perspective. So that's why I think it could make a difference. That doesn't mean one group or the other couldn't have relationships with black people, but I think Sikhs are more likely to do so.

  9. @ M and eccentricyoruba:

Sikh teaching just seems to really promote equality of all people regardless of our differences which from a US basis can include race. So that's why. I don't really know about Hinduism but that's why I think he might have been more open to her, because it's an open mind that he learned to possess.

  10. @Marona,

Ohhh...no wonder! . I've often wondered what does their book say about it and about Hinduism. With the previous issue of EBONY magazine with the IR couples in them, the Indian man that married his Black wife said that Hindus are taught that they should stick with their own kind.I wonder if that is more of a cultural one than a religious one.

I've been hit on by an Indian and one who seemed curious about me. I didn't know about the first guys religion, but I knew that the other guy was Muslim. They guy I 've mentioned about his relationships was a Muslim. I knew of one other Black woman who married a Hindu Indian guy,but he wasn't practicing his faith. I

  17. How coincidental that I just finished a book called ''The Question'' by Zena Wynn with this pairing.
    Anyway..
Her being darker is VERY surprising, them marrying still kind of surprising. I mean I've had attention from some Indian guys but now its like..we can marry them to?

I saw on the news a black woman who married and had a child was killed when the Indian man's parents hired a hit man because that approve her because she was black.

I can never get that out of my head every time I see an Indian man whether he is fine or not but Kudos to Tamara, it seems like she is more than welcomed into their family.

  22. I really don't see what the big deal is. I'm from Trinidad and the third largest rate is what we call "dougla" a child who is a mixture of African and Indian parents.

90% of all the people I know with Chinese surnames look black. Maybe its odd in other countries but in Trinidad it is really normal.

  23. @Sunshine

I don't think it's a big deal either and I'm not Caribbean. I also don't think people think it is 'odd' more like 'rare' in some places.

  26. This is beautiful. I very much love my East Indian friend and he is nuts about me. We have not dated because he feels he has no choice but to marry and Indian woman. And it drives me nuts. He wants to be with me so bad. He begs to be with me and he can fight his parents off fr a while. I just can't be with someone that I know will leave when his parents say they have waited long enough it's time to marry an Indian girl. Lucky woman I wish them the best.

  27. I am an Indian man and have been with my Jamaican fiancee for 3 years. We'll be getting married in 2014.

Indian men can be open minded and as long as the women ain't playing around, she wants to start a family and love the man for whom he is rather than the money or home he owns, than we don't discriminate on race or creed or colour. Bottomline is that the love and emotion a woman has for you is what counts rather than external looks or whatever. Anybody ho has questions or wants to get in touch can mail me at joshua.merchant@yahoo.com or add me on facebook, my name there is Josh Ncm. Take care everybody and Gob bless :)
